The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has unveiled its first electric aircraft. The department’s specialists have been working on it since 2015.

The first electric aircraft was shown at the Armstrong Flight Research Center in California. The new development is an early version of the X-57 Maxwell electric aircraft.

Work on the first electric aircraft was launched in 2015. This is the first such development that was created by the designers of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, REUTERS reports, referring to the agency’s website.

It is noted that the experimental X-57 is built on the basis of the Tecnam P2006T aircraft. But in the final modification, the aircraft will receive a narrower and lighter wing, as well as 14 electric motors.

According to the developers, the first flight of the X-57 Maxwell will take place in a year.
