Tamagotchi for children who grew up in the 90s were the most beloved electronic pets. In connection with the 20th anniversary of the release of the toy, OXO decided to recall the most interesting facts about it.

The bottom line was taking care of the electronic pet. He had to be fed, walked, entertained. In response, the baby grew and developed. It was strictly forbidden to forget about the toy. Otherwise, a return to the original settings was inevitable.

The author of the game was Aki Maita, who worked in the marketing department of Bandai. The reason for the creation of the electronic pet was the case. The woman saw an upset boy who was going to kindergarten and could not take a little turtle with him. She decided to come up with such an "animal" that could accompany the children everywhere.

The first egg-shaped electronic animals went on sale in 1996. Their name in translation meant an egg-like clock. The first models had only three buttons, with the help of which it was possible to carry out elementary manipulations with the pet - to feed, clean, play.

The fact that the toy needed "help" from its owner was notified by a special sound signal. It was a kind of squeak that lasted for several hours.

Modern models differ significantly from those that were in the early 90s in appearance and functionality. Various shapes were used, the number of buttons increased, the capabilities of an electronic pet expanded. For many children, their Tamagotchi were more than just a hobby. This was the meaning of life.
