Animal instinct: the designer designed furniture in the form of animals

Based on the wild African nature, the Spanish designer Maximo Riera created a furniture collection.

The inspiration for the first sofa from the line was a hippopotamus. The seat of the product is not typically located (on the side of the structure). Thanks to this solution, the shape of the sofa repeats the proportions of a real hippopotamus. The designer paid attention to details. From ivory, he imitated the fangs of an animal. In total, 20 copies of "hippo" sofas were produced. The cost of one product is 75 thousand dollars.

The chair, recreated in the form of a rhinoceros body, resembles a throne. To make the product durable and reliable, it is based on a metal frame.



The most elegant representative of the line is the chair in the form of an octopus.



The original deck chair looks like a walrus. The power of the animal can be felt by stretching out on the product to its full height.



The elephant table is decorated with artistic carvings typical of Indian culture. This is exactly what was used on antique furniture in India.

“With furniture, I want to show my attitude to all living creatures of our planet: love and respect. On the other hand, this is a kind of analogy for the invasion of animals into the world of people, similar to the actions of people in the world of animals,” the designer shared.
