Today, almost every person has a device for accessing the Internet. Computers, laptops, tablets and phones store a ton of personal data. Naturally, they can become a tidbit for different cyber fraudsters. Let's figure out how to avoid this.

Various information is valuable for hackers: social media accounts, bank card details, photos and audio recordings. This information may be used in fraudulent schemes. Personal photos can be blackmailed, and viewing or listening to pirated material can result in fines or blocking. The following 5 rules will help you avoid a hacker attack.

1. Use caution when choosing a network.
Using public Wi-Fi networks is always a risk. Before connecting, do not choose at random, but contact the staff and specify the name (SSID). Turn off the search for Wi-Fi networks in the background, install a VPN client or connect to your own server.

2. Set a strong password.
Simple or the same password for multiple accounts is an attacker’s dream. When thinking up accounts for your account, be guided by the following: length - at least 10 characters; composition - uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, special characters; due date - change the password at least once a quarter.

3. Forget about clicking on unfamiliar links.
Hackers deftly fake letters from banks, social networks and government agencies. If you do not study them carefully, you can easily make a mistake. Follow the links from scammers leads to the theft of personal data, infection of devices with viruses.

4. Be vigilant on the Internet.
With care, place personal data when registering on little-known sites. After all, this information can very quickly turn out to third parties. Even photos on social networks can indicate your financial situation, history of movements, hobbies, communications.

5. Use the latest software.
Regular software updates are the key to the safety of personal data. A possible deterioration in performance or an inconspicuous design change is not worth hacking your account or resetting your bank account.
