Specialists at the Uni Research Research Center in Norway examined 500 babies from Nepal. They took a blood test from them and after 5 years they tested these children.

According to the results of the study, 5-year-olds with low levels of vitamin B12 find it harder to cope with cognitive tasks: solving puzzles, recognizing letters and interpreting the emotions of other children.

Scientists believe that vitamin B12 deficiency can disrupt or slow down brain development in young children. Moreover, this can happen even at the initial stage of intrauterine development.

As for pregnant women, the lack of this vitamin can not only affect the further mental development of the child, but also premature birth. The risk of developing a premature baby rises to 21%.

This problem is especially relevant for vegans and raw foodists who eat exclusively plant-based foods. It does not have this vitamin. They have to buy B12, synthesized artificially, taken by themselves and given to children.

For vegetarians, this question is less relevant, since they use not only vegetable, but animal, albeit killing-free food. Eggs and dairy products contain little B12, and you need to know about how and in what quantities to consume these foods in order to be enough.
