Scientists managed to create a “smart” bracelet that reports the upcoming outbreak of aggression to people with autism, as well as their immediate surroundings. The gadget warns about this a minute before the onset of the attack.

For people with autism, a disorder arising from impaired brain development and characterized by a pronounced and comprehensive lack of social interaction and communication, as well as limited interests and repetitive actions, frequent attacks of aggression are characteristic. Their cause most often becomes stress.

Scientists from Northeastern University managed to develop a special bracelet that reports about it a minute before the outbreak of aggression. The device is equipped with special sensors that evaluate body temperature, sweating, heart rate, limb movement. Based on this data, the gadget can predict an attack. The signal sounds a minute before it starts. The accuracy of the bracelet is 84%.

According to scientists, the minute before the onset of the attack is not enough. They hope to increase the amount of time. To create a gadget, they needed data from 20 people with autism spectrum disorders. They recorded attacks of aggression and related body reactions within 87 hours.

To improve their development, specialists at Northeastern University want to engage 240 respondents. When this happens is unknown. As well as the sale of a “smart” gadget.
