The author of this social project is Frieke Janssen, a photographer from Belgium. He showed smoking children aged 4 to 9 years. This photo shoot was once called scandalous, and the photographer was accused of promoting smoking. Although now she would have caused considerable excitement. But do not rush to conclusions.
The idea of creating the project “The Beauty of a Bad Habit” came up with the photographer after watching a video about a 2-year-old smoking boy. This kid smoked 40 cigarettes a day.
By his work Frieke Janssen wanted to draw attention to the problems of smoking, both passive and active among children. He also wanted to point out double standards: on the one hand, anti-nicotine companies built on bans, and on the other, the image of a smoking person as independent and successful.
Whether it is actually justified and why there are still double standards in society are rhetorical questions.
