The interest in the Soviet automobile past among modern people does not fade away. This is reflected in the popularization of tuning cars in the style of Soviet cars.

Not once do notes appear on projects created on the basis of Victory. But there is another category that is based on foreign cars. Here are technical experts and decided to combine modern technology and improved comfort with the appearance of the car, causing nostalgic feelings.

GAZ MARK "Pobeda-RX II-8" vaguely resembles the original Pobeda, but its body and coupe are based on the Toyota Mark II and Mazda RX8. The owner of this vehicle has the means and simply could not help but fulfill his dream.

“I really liked the victory, but for myself I wanted to modernize it a bit, to maintain recognizable features in a new look,” says the author of the project.

Toyota Mark II was chosen as the base of the car, which is attractive with a wide range of available engines: from a 2.0-liter aspirated to a 3.0-liter 2JZ turbocharged unit. A short search ended in the choice of a donor Mark II with a 2.5-liter inline six with a capacity of 200 hp and low mileage.

Unfortunately, the roof line and side glazing with the Toyota Mark II did not fit into the future project. The author considered them not too elegant. Therefore, the middle part of the body and cab were taken from the Mazda RX 8.

“Building and tuning cars is my hobby, which has grown into a permanent job, which I have been doing for more than 15 years. When completing a project, you always understand for yourself that you can do even better and more interesting, so you don’t stop there and work further,” explains the owner of the modernized Pobeda Coupe.

The main difficulty is the manufacture of the body and body elements that were cut out of metal manually: hood, wings and trunk. To increase comfort and capacity, the wheelbase was increased to 3240 mm (almost 500 mm).

As for the interior, the rear sofa, door cards and front seats, which were borrowed from the Nissan 350Z, were pulled over by white leather. The front panel donor was the RX-8.

From the real Pobeda, the rear window, front and rear wings, as well as other original parts from the GAZ M20 Pobeda, were taken. All this was bought, but not all, unfortunately, came up. A lot of the author of the project had to make it with his own hand.

“Each person has his own taste and look, so I think there are people who might not like the machine. But, as a rule, wherever I went, there were always people wishing to take pictures and talk around the car,” says the author of the project.
