The growth of diseases diagnosed by vape users has been recorded. Doctors in the United States insist on conducting additional research on vapers.
In 2019, 215 cases of sharp worsening of health among vapers were recorded in the United States. This was announced by the chief pediatric pulmonologist at the Winthrop Hospital of New York University in Mineole, New York.
It is noted that these are mostly healthy young people, aged 20 years. They complain of severe shortness of breath, vomiting, fever and fatigue. They usually seek medical help after several days of unsuccessful treatment at home.
Some of the patients are in the intensive care unit or on mechanical ventilation for several weeks. The treatment, according to the doctors, is complicated by the absence of typical symptoms, as well as the silence of what they inhaled.
Most hospitalized patients had symptoms similar to viral or bacterial pneumonia. But laboratory tests did not reveal any abnormalities.
Pulmonologists are worried: vapers who use marijuana-based liquids to refuel vaporizers have a disease similar to lipoid pneumonia. This is an immune response to oils that enter the lungs and lead to inflammation and the accumulation of fluids in them.
