Scientists from the UK made a shocking statement. They believe that a glass of wine for an elderly person is much more useful than a few physical exercises.
The study, code-named "90+ Study", has been conducted since 2003. This was a continuation of the project “A short study of the world of leisure” (LWCS), which started back in 1981.
The essence of the project was to study the lives of people who have reached 90 years of age. Their habits, daily routine, nutrition. Especially those factors that allowed them to live up to 90 years. Scientists also studied habits and lifestyle patterns that affected their state of health.
As research methods, surveys, medical studies, neurophysiological and neurological tests were used. As a result, common features were discovered in the life of centenarians, who, in all likelihood, became the cause of longevity.
Respondents admitted to drinking a glass of wine daily. According to nutritionists, the optimal dose of wine for a person over the age of 65 is one glass. For those who have not reached the age of 65, two glasses a day.
The moderate use of alcohol, according to scientists, can reduce the risk of the occurrence and development of diseases of the cardiovascular system.
