The Parker Solar Probe solar probe successfully approached the Sun for the third time. He approached the star at a distance of 24 million kilometers. It is reported that at the time of maximum rapprochement, he was moving at a speed of more than 343,100 kilometers per hour.

The research device was launched by NASA in August 2018. During the first approach to the Sun, he approached a distance of 42.73 million kilometers. Thus, breaking the Helios 2 apparatus record. Then the probe performed two more “approaches” to the star. The latter was held in September 2019.

According to NASA experts, during the last rapprochement, Parker Solar Probe approached the Sun at a distance of 24 million km, and at maximum proximity (being in perihelion) the probe moved at a speed of more than 343,100 km / h. Soon after, a signal was received from the device about the proper operation of all systems.

It is planned to conduct another 21 rapprochements of Parker Solar Probe with a star. The deadline by which this should happen is 2025. Experts suggest that the probe will be able to approach the Sun at a distance of 6.16 million kilometers, moving at a speed of about 690,000 km / h.
