An unusual jellyfish was recorded at a depth of 790 meters. She was photographed by a remotely controlled device in the Pacific Ocean.

The authors of the video are specialists from the Nautilus research vessel. According to their statement, the creature probably belongs to the genus Deepstaria. This is a kind of jellyfish that is known for its thin, leaf-like bodies. They lack tentacles and the body resembles a huge dome.

Inside the jellyfish, a noticeably red crustacean. Similar was noted earlier. But why it was there is not exactly known. Crayfish are thought to feed on jellyfish or hide in this way from predators.

The jellyfish in the video has no tentacles. She catches food with the help of a huge dome: it closes the entrance to it and the victim, in fact, is trapped.

In general, little is known about the genus Deepstaria - including it is unclear what these jellyfish eat, how deep they can survive in the ocean, etc.
