Daimler officially announced that it is moving to testing a new unmanned truck on the roads of Virginia, USA.

The concern’s press service said it was moving on to testing trucks with a fourth level of autonomy. Such vehicles at a certain moment of movement become completely autonomous. Testing is planned to be conducted in the south-west of Virginia, USA, near the recently acquired Torc Robotics concern.

Of course, the movement of the truck is carried out only with a specially trained driver. So that this person could at some point take control. In addition, an engineer will be with him, whose task is to monitor the operation of the entire control system.

The start of testing an unmanned truck is scheduled for the end of 2019. This is in line with the group’s plans and official statements. The strategy for the development of the concept of unmanned vehicles Daimler is engaged in the Autonomous Technology Group. It was created recently and is part of Torc Robotics.
