Scientists have shown a "cosmic" image. This seems to be true. If this were not a picture of the high-frequency distribution of RNA molecules inside the cell.
The image of RNA molecules inside the cell is the result of applying DNA microscopy technology. Its authors are American scientists Joshua Vanstein, Aviv Regev and Jang Feng. What is noteworthy, neither optical nor electron microscopes are used here.
The essence of the technology is to inject special markers into the cells, which are synthesized DNA fragments. They, in turn, attach to RNA molecules that are located in different parts of the cell. Due to the chemical reaction, the marked molecules multiply. They act as scanners, joining compounds with other RNA molecules.
Next, a sequencer and a computer program are used. With their help, a spatial picture is created.
