On October 8, 2019, a ceremony was held at which the 2019 Nobel Prize winners in physics were announced. The winners are Jim Peebles, Didier Kelo and Michelle Major.

Jim Peebles received half the prize, and his colleagues - Kelo and Major - for 1/4 of the prize.

Jim is the founder of theoretical cosmology. The Committee appreciated his work as the basis of modern ideas in this area. The Nobel Prize will be the pinnacle of his awards for half a century of work.

Michel and Didier managed to open 51 Pegasus in 1995 b. This is the first planet near another star in its parameters as similar as possible to our Sun. For several months, these two scientists watched 142 such luminaries from the Observatory of Haute Provence in the French Alps. The planet they discovered is "hot Jupiter" - a gas giant weighing about half of Jupiter. But it rotates at an extremely small distance from the star, so it is warmed up to many hundreds of degrees.

The Nobel Prize is an award that has been awarded for over 100 years for achievements in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature, as well as for promoting peace in the world. Later, a nomination for achievements in the economic sciences was added, although this was not in the will of Alfred Nobel.

In addition to the medal, the laureates receive a cash award, which differs from year to year and depends on how much money the premium fund was able to earn on securities.
