A statement was made by Japanese scientists from the Riken Center for Biological System Dynamics Research.

The study was initiated by the need to find the optimal method of maintaining life in the tissues and organs that will be used for transplantation. The new microfluidic device allows you to maintain a sufficient level of hydration of the donor organ: so that it does not dry out and drown in nutrients.

The results of the experiment were successful. Scientists managed to maintain the vital functions of the mouse brain, which was previously extracted from the skull, for almost a month. With the help of semi-permeable materials, tissues were supplied with nutrients and there was no negative effect on gas exchange.

On the 25th day of the experiment, the experimental brain retained 97% activity. This allowed scientists to declare the success of the experiment.
