Andy Rubin, a former Google employee, showed photos and videos of the new smartphone on his Twitter account. The development of Essential Phone 2 has been known for a long time, but the new product still managed to surprise users.

At the moment, there are no details about the technical component of the new development yet. It’s not even clear whether this is a serial device or an engineering sample.

Judging by the information provided by Andy Rubin in his Twitter account, the novelty is equipped with rectangular frames on both sides of the elongated display. On the back is a massive protrusion with a camera. There is also a special recess designed for fingerprints. "Front" takes place in the upper left corner of the screen.

According to the creator of the smartphone, it is revolutionary not only in relation to the form factor, but also to the interface. Technical details, of course, were not reported, but the “cards” that scroll vertically are visible on the screen.

An additional innovation is the gradient color of the case. It is very different from competing devices.

The timing of the release of Essential Phone 2 is not known.
