Residents of the US state of Virginia have recently been able to use the new delivery service. Wing, part of the Alphabet holding (which also includes Google), offers to transport small items by air using drones.
According to the developers, this is the first commercial drone delivery service in the United States, which will be available to citizens of the country. At the moment, food and medical products are being delivered to residents of Christiansburg, Virginia, USA.
The company began shipping immediately after it received permission for such actions. Now this is happening as part of Wing’s collaboration with Walgreens, a large pharmacy chain, FedEx logistics company, and local retailer Sugar Magnolia.
The company's designers published a video on the network that demonstrates the operation of the service. The procedure is quite simple: the customer places an order using a smartphone, the service employee puts the goods in a package that is attached to the drone, the device delivers the package to the customer’s house.
