Specialists from Brown University in the United States discovered a new state of matter. In their opinion, Cooper pairs are able to conduct electricity like metals
Cooper pairs have electrical conductivity like metals. This conclusion was reached by American scientists from Brown University.
Physicists have found that Cooper pairs can be found not only in two states. They not only slip, creating a superconducting or insulating state. Cooper pairs can also conduct electricity with some resistance. This information is presented in an article published in the journal Science.
The study says that this is a completely new state of matter, which needs to be studied separately.
The Cooper pair is a bound state of two electrons interacting via a phonon. It has zero spin and a charge equal to twice the charge of an electron.
They were named after Leon Cooper, a professor of physics who received the Nobel Prize in 1972 for describing their role in providing superconductivity.
