German scientists have found that the brain of drummers is not arranged like other people. It is distinguished by its structure and functions, which allows it to work differently

Playing the drum aids brain training. Experienced drummers can more effectively perform several actions at once. So say scientists from Germany.

Studies by scientists at the University Hospital in Bochum have shown that drum skills contribute to thickening the fibers between the hemispheres of the brain and the development of the motor cortex, which is responsible for coordinating movements. This information is published in the journal Brain and Behavior.

German scientists using magnetic resonance imaging studied the brain of 20 professional drummers. Each of the musicians played for at least 17 years on average 10 hours a week. The control group consisted of 24 people who did not own musical instruments.

It turned out that due to the thickening of the fibers between the hemispheres of the brain of drummers, the exchange of information is faster. Therefore, they can more effectively coordinate their movements.
