Paleontologists have discovered the oldest known cave paintings to date in Indonesia, in the south of the island of Sulawesi. It depicts a hunting scene.

In this figurative figure, animals, bulls and pigs that run against armed people are distinguishable. Moreover, some people noticeable animal features. This means that the scene was partially invented by the artist, that is, testifies to the most ancient creativity, reflecting human imagination, informs N + 1.

Maxim Aubert of Griffith University in Australia and his colleagues are authors of this find. In total, 14 figures are distinguishable in the cave drawing: six - animals (pigs and buffaloes), eight - the so-called "theriantropes" (anthropomorphic figures with individual animal features).

Scientists note that all elements of the image are drawn at the same time. This is indicated by uranium dating, which paleontologists resorted to to study the find.

Recall that earlier in the Discovery Hut hut, built by polar explorer Robert Scott in 1902 on Ross Island in Antarctica, they examined a bag of red onions over 100 years old.
