The Chinese company F-Eye UAV Technology, in collaboration with the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, conducted flight tests of the FY-36 unmanned vehicle equipped with a methanol fuel cell. It is reported that as part of the tests, the drone managed to complete a 12-hour flight.
The FY-36 device has a mass of 15 kilograms and is capable, according to the developers, to carry a load weighing up to three kilograms. The drone is equipped with a tail propeller used for horizontal flight; at the same time, it has two beams on which there are electric motors with rotors, which are used by the drone for vertical take-off and landing.
FY-36 has already completed 15 test flights. According to the South China Morning Post, during one of them, the device spent 12 hours in the air.
In the future, F-Eye UAV Technology expects to make a larger version of the drone that can carry a heavier load.
