The life of the child, Sophie Skill z Sheffield, was questioned for several days. The girl was under mechanical ventilation after she swallowed a coin-sized button battery.

Acid from the battery got into her esophagus and into the lungs, which caused severe pain and could provoke death, reports BBC.

According to doctors, in the UK every year several children die due to such batteries. Such batteries are used in many toys and gadgets. They are found in fitness bracelets, mini-robots, New Year's toys.

Shiny batteries are very reminiscent of children coins. They are often swallowed by babies, which can cause burns and strangulation.

Recently, OXO wrote about the creation of a wallboard Studio Roller. It is a place to display information, as well as an innovative field for activities that even children can master.
