The restoration of tooth enamel will now occur without the installation of fillings. Researchers from Zhejiang University have created a special drug that allows you to renew its outer layer in case of tooth injuries.
A new development is able to regenerate the outer layer of damaged enamel. Scientists from China used a material that mimics the natural process of mineralization of the protective cover of teeth. About this writes Science Advances, referring to research materials.
According to Chinese scientists, in order to choose the most effective way to remineralize coaxial enamel, they had to conduct a series of experiments. Previously, these experiments did not bring the desired result, since the complex crystalline structure of the enamel could not be reproduced in laboratory conditions.
The research team claims that "material consisting of clusters of calcium phosphate ions can be used to make an enamel precursor layer." This means that they were able to cause the growth of enamel crystals, imitating a similar natural process.
A practical proof of their words was a new type of cluster of the notorious calcium phosphate ions (CPIC) with a diameter of only 1.5 fractions of a nanometer (this is about one billionth of a meter).
