An XB-1 supersonic passenger aircraft is being tested in the Monhava Desert. His testing is carried out by the American startup company Boom Supersonic.
To test the demonstrator, the startup company signed an agreement with Flight Research. The latter will provide a parking hangar and T-38 training aircraft, which will be used both for training XB-1 pilots and for escorting XB-1 during a test flight,
reports Flightglobal.
Startups started developing supersonic passenger aircraft back in 2010. They plan to use the materials and test results to create the Overture supersonic passenger aircraft, the launch of which is planned for commercial use in the mid-2020s.
According to the developers, the XB-1 will have a calculated cruising speed of 2.2 Mach force and a flight range of 1.9 km. The length of the apparatus is 20.7 m, the wingspan is 5.2 m.
Prior to this, it was reported that the latest widebody
aircraft Boeing 777X first flew into the sky as part of a test flight.
