The British government intends to postpone the ban on the sale of new diesel and gasoline cars from 2040 to 2035. The authorities came to this decision after a speech by experts on the environmental situation in the country.

Environmentalists believe that in order to reduce carbon dioxide emissions to almost zero by the middle of this century, a ban on the sale of cars with internal combustion engines and hybrids should be introduced as early as 2035. This was announced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson during the launch of the event dedicated to the UN climate summit in November, writes BBC.

2020 will be the “year of climate action" for the planet. A summit called COP26 will be held in Glasgow. This is an annual event at which country leaders evaluate progress in tackling climate change.

Johnson admits that a ban on the sale of gasoline and diesel cars may be introduced even before 2035. Residents of the country will be able to buy only electric and hydrogen cars.

Earlier it was reported that the authorities of Milan periodically impose a ban on the use of vehicles in connection with smog. The ban does not apply to electric vehicles and motor vehicles for the disabled.
