Audi, a German company, said it will use recycled plastic bottles to produce its new cars.

The interior of the new car will receive a number of elements created from PET containers. For example, polyethylene terephthalate will be put on threads from which they will make fabric upholstery of the seats, informs Popular Mechanics.

The debut of recycled plastic will take place as threads for the upholstery in the new Audi A3. 89% of the textiles in the cabin will be made of polyethylene terephthalate. For example, on one seat, on average, up to 45 one and a half liter bottles will go, 62 bottles will be needed for floor mats.

Recycled plastic seats are planned to be made in versions of Torsion (gray with yellow stitching), Puls, as well as in the sports version of the S line.
