Google introduced its new doodle, which it decided to devote to the Leap Year. This festive “badge” turned out to be bright, colorful and with digital overtones.

The number 28 was depicted on the one hand, and the unit on the other. The author of the doodle wanted to show that she seemed to be superfluous. That's because a leap year happens once every four years, according to the search engine website.

So Google wanted to emphasize the significance of the event for users around the world. In the picture, the second letter “O” in the name of the search engine is indicated by the number 29.

Recall that a leap year is a calendar year containing an extra day in solar calendars, and an extra month in lunar-solar calendars to synchronize with an astronomical or seasonal year. A non-leap year is called a non-leap year. In the common Gregorian calendar, February 29 is an additional day of a leap year.

It was previously reported that Google has updated the application Google Earth. Now with its help it will be possible to see panoramas of space even from a smartphone.
