UPS Flight Forward, an American drone operator, owned by UPS, a major courier company, has entered into an agreement with the German company Wingcopter, according to which a family of drones should be developed for delivering goods over long distances. The devices plan to create according to the scheme of a convertiplane.
As indicated, the new drones (with a longer range than conventional multicopters) for UPS Flight Forward will be created on the basis of the project already available at Wingcopter - an electric unmanned cover plane (an aircraft that is made according to an airplane scheme but has rotary propellers) which can fly up to 120 kilometers and is capable of speeds up to 240 kilometers per hour.
New devices will have to be certified in accordance with the requirements of the US Federal Aviation Administration and put into operation. When this happens, however, has not yet been reported.
