The Bailong elevator is located in one of the most picturesque places in China - in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. It is called the “One Hundred Dragons Lift” and is officially listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the tallest outdoor elevator in the world.

The construction of the grand lift was completed in 2002. It consists of three two-story elevators that lift courageous passengers along the sandy cliff wall to the observation platform, at a height of 326 meters.

From this point, a view of the picturesque mountain area of Wulingyuan opens up with incredible beauty. This place has become a source of inspiration for the creators of the movie Avatar, who have drawn the mysterious Pandora Mountains from Chinese landscapes.

Visitors, for a fee, face their fears. They rise to a dizzying height in just two minutes. Each elevator can accommodate up to 50 passengers at a time. For the day, the famous ski lift is visited by about 20,000 guests.

The Bailong elevator was completed the same year that the Wulingyuan Mountain System became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Some believed that the lifting structure was completely out of place and violates the natural beauty of the reserve. Others supported the project and noted that the elevator will ease the load on already crowded mountain roads.
