McLaren showed a new car with a "virtual glazing" (Video)

McLaren introduced the new Elva supercar, the feature of which was the complete absence of glazing of the cab - neither frontal nor side windows are provided. Instead, the manufacturer created a special aerodynamics of the body, which redirects airflows around the cabin.

AAMS includes numerous movable aerodynamic elements in the front of the body, which take effect at speeds from 90 km / h. Air flows are redirected in such a way that they flow around passenger seats from above and on the sides, without getting into the passenger compartment - for this, the oncoming flow through the elements of the front part of the body is directed in the direction opposite to the movement of the car in order to divert wind over the passenger compartment. In total, all air flows create a virtual dome that “covers” people and protects them both from the wind and from flying dirt from the road.

As explained by McLaren, AAMS technology makes it possible to safely ride without a helmet, which is required for comfortable trips to other cars with a missing windshield. At the same time, at the request of the driver, Elva can turn off "virtual glazing."
