During a pandemic, most people remain in their homes, but many are forced to work. Four female employees at a zoo in Cornwall, England, made a voluntary choice - they left to wait for quarantine with animals to take care of them.
On March 24, Paradise Park Zoo in Cornwall, England announced that it was closing its doors indefinitely due to an outbreak of coronavirus. While the management of the zoo was making plans for the care of animals, four employees took the initiative. The girls volunteered to remain in the zoo for the whole quarantine in order to take care of their wards.
Now the employees live in a house specially designated for the staff, distribute duties among themselves and are on duty in turn. Other colleagues periodically help them, coming at different times. Girls will remain in the zoo for 12 weeks, during quarantine, and if it lasts, they are going to be with animals as well.
About 1,200 birds live in the zoo, as well as many mammals such as red pandas, squirrels, Asian otters, baby mice and farm animals.
