The megapixel camera, developed by scientists, has a record speed and resolution. It will help to develop VR and LiDAR technologies faster to obtain three-dimensional images.

The new camera is capable of capturing individual photons while shooting objects in 3D — up to 24 thousand frames per second. If you compare it with a standard camera that is used to record television videos, then its speed is 30 frames per second, writes phys.org.

The development will be used to determine the flight time of the photons that the laser emits. It will also allow you to shoot frames that were previously difficult to capture using other visualization methods. For example, objects that are viewed through a transparent window or taking pictures with an unprecedented dynamic range.

“Thanks to its high resolution and ability to measure depth, the new camera can make virtual reality more realistic and allow it to interact with information more smoothly,” said Eduardo Charbon of the Laboratory for Advanced Quantum Architecture.

Earlier, the European Space Agency introduced the glove for astronauts, which controls gestures and is equipped with an oxygen sensor. The authorship of this device is owned by Comex and designer Agate Medioni.
