This apartment, located in a unique Art Nouveau house Steinhardt House, has retained many of its original elements, but now breathes a modern and functional design without losing sophistication.

The center of Budapest is full of impressive buildings, you just need to look carefully to admire its facades. One of them is the Art Nouveau Steinhardt house, built in 1907 by the architect Gyula Fodora, with important decorative motifs on the facade and its courtyard.

Architects Erica Nyari and Jordan Sans completely transformed the apartment located there, which retained the traditional distribution of the floor from the beginning of the 20th century, with two independent entrances.

The current layout has two distinct parts: a day area, which consists of a large space, which includes a kitchen-dining room and living room, as well as a small open terrace, and a night area, which opens onto a courtyard, where there are two bedrooms, two bathrooms and the entrance hall.

Paul retained many original elements that were restored and improved. The most striking example is the windows and doors, which have now become the main decorative objects. The double entrance door to the living room against the background of white space is especially highlighted in matt gray.

The niche of the window in the living room is very interesting, which has turned into a reading space with its own special design, and the windows are closed with a transparent curtain, so that the frames are also clearly visible.

Custom-made furniture was developed for the apartment, for example, a dining table for 10 people made of steel, and an HPL worktop with a stainless steel edging that repeats the finish of the kitchen worktop.

The owners of the Spaniards sought a balance between practicality and sophistication. They didn’t want the budget to skyrocket, so they combined IKEA furniture with design elements such as the BKF / Butterfly chair from Bonet, Kurchan and Ferrari, Aim lamps from Flos from Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec and Wireflow from Vibia from Arik Levy, Ames chairs DSW for Vitra by Charles and Ray Ames and Knot Knot, Ragnheiður Osp Sigurdardottir.
