The new cruiser R 18 is made in the style of the classic pre-war BMW R 5.
After a series of conceptual motorcycles, the German brand has finally introduced a serial cruiser that combines classic design with modern technology. In particular, the design of the front and rear suspension, as well as the cardan drive, are stylized as BMW R 5 of the 1936 model.
The motorcycle received a steel tubular frame, the front suspension - an inverted telescopic fork, and the role of the rear is performed by a monoshock under the saddle. The cruiser is equipped with a combined brake system with two discs on the front wheel, ABS anti-lock braking system, ASC stabilization system and MSR traction control system. The driver will also have the opportunity to choose one of three - Rain, Roll and Rock - engine operating modes.
The engine itself is called Big Boxer and is the most powerful 2-cylinder boxer engine that has ever been used on BMW motorcycles. The 1.8 liter unit produces 91 hp. and combined with a 6-speed gearbox.
