Xiaomi has filed a patent for a smartphone with an unusual and ambiguous way of “switching” to the front camera.
Recently, the National Intellectual Property Office of China received a patent application for a new smartphone from the Xiaomi brand. For the user to take a selfie or make a video call using the front camera, the smartphone must momentarily turn into a transformer.
The upper part of the display is divided into parts. At the moment of “switching” to the frontal part of the screen rotates 180 degrees, like an owl’s head. An array of smartphone cameras appeals to the user, and the contents of the display are scaled to a new format. It is not yet clear whether the gadget will perform a metamorphosis unusual for the technology world when the screen is unlocked and the owner is identified by face.
A new option may adversely affect the life of the device. Dust, particles of liquid will penetrate the fastening place, which means that there is no question of the waterproofness of the novelty. An application for a patent does not mean that the smartphone “owl” will certainly go on sale and will delight in unusual content.
