Architects from FORM/Kouichi Kimura Architects studio created a narrow concrete house

The house, reminiscent of intersecting concrete and metal cubes, was created by the specialists of the architectural studio FORM/Kouichi Kimura Architects. This is a long, narrow construction in Shiga Prefecture, Japan.

The new house, surrounded by low buildings and wide roads, was called Slender House. It is divided into three blocks: a concrete lobby at ground level, a black painted shape and a two-story corrugated lining, writes "Archidea."

Blocks are positioned to minimize views through carefully positioned windows. The largest windows are located at both ends of the house. While long lateral elevations have small openings.

All space is planned around the corridor. So, according to the designers, residents and visitors to the house feel the geometry of the site. As you move, all space opens.

“The dynamic configuration of the box-shaped volumes with the rhythmic arrangement of the windows creates wonderful life scenes in which light and landscapes are perceived, while the view of the neighbors is blocked,” said founder Kouichi Kimura.

Recently, the house, which was once more than a hundred-year-old building, the architects Liani and Jan Douglas turned into modern cottage. Now this housing in Green Point, Cape Town, boasts a functional design and an unusual layout.
