William (Bill) Helburn was born in 1924 and was a contemporary of fashion classics Richard Avedon, Irving Penn and Lilian Bassman. The American fashion photographer filmed for the famous magazines Harper’s Bazaar, LIFE, McCall’s and many others. The peak of the career of this remarkable photographer was in the 50s and 60s of the last century. He is still alive and is slowly spending his old age in his house in New England.
Unfortunately, William Helburn was undeservedly forgotten, and we want to introduce you to the beautiful photographs of this master, who shot the best beauties of the mid-20th century.
William Helburn was engaged in art and advertising shooting. He created wonderful photosets for many campaigns of world brands. His “trick” was the contextualization of models in photographs that went beyond the boundaries of the pages.
William Helburn’s career began at the end of World War II - he was part of the group taking the first pictures after the atomic bomb exploded over Hiroshima. The peak of his work came in the 50-60s.
In the 80s, Helburn became the successful director of TV Commercials. Ten years later, he left the world of fashion and advertising and devoted his life to family and children. The photographer is still alive and spends time at his home in New England.
