They will try to find life on Mars using the new SHERLOC and WATSON tools installed on the NASA rover. Together with the Perseverance rover, they successfully passed testing.

The SHERLOC microparticle analyzer will work in tandem with the WATSON camera, which will take up close-up shooting of rock textures. These tools will complement the robotic arm mounted on the rover, which is responsible for the study of Martian soil, the space agency said.

The Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover mission is scheduled for July 2020. According to plans, the module with rovers will land on the planet in the summer of 2021. The proposed rover landing sites will be the Sirte Plateau and the Jesero Crater. Research vehicles will need to take soil samples to determine if there were living conditions on Mars for microorganisms.

Previously, scientists developed a swarm of Martian probes the size of a fly. Robots are levitating plates made of "nanocarton" that NASA can send to the Red Planet with the Mars Helicopter rover.
