Taiwanese company TSMC, which is engaged in the production of semiconductor products, has planned for 2021 the production of 3-nanometer processors for the iPhone 14.

Currently, the manufacturer TSMC is working on the creation of processors of a lower nanometer level and is starting to build new production lines. It is expected that the first batch of chips built using the 3-nanometer technological process will be ready in 2021, and in 2022 their volume will be increased. 3-nanometer chips will be used in Apple smartphones, scheduled for 2022 - they should get the traditional name iPhone 14.

The iPhone 12 range planned for this fall will be based on 5-nanometer A14 processors. Technical details about the new generation chips have not yet been announced. It is known that TSMC will transfer part of the production to Arizona, and the cost of building a new plant is estimated at $ 12 billion. Presumably, new type A processor assembly workshops will open no earlier than 2024.

Smartphones of the current line of iPhone 11, released in the fall of 2019, use the Apple A13 Bionic processor. It is manufactured by TSMC using a 7-nanometer process technology. The A13 Bionic contains about 8.5 billion transistors and has an additional eight-core Neural Engine processor.
