The shield protects against LRAD, the sonic weapon the police use to disperse demonstrators.

Protests in the USA are supported by programmers and engineers. We already wrote about the program, which allows you to quickly blur the faces of people in the photo and delete metadata. Now, engineers have developed special shields for protesters against sonic weapons - long-range acoustic devices that can lead to permanent hearing loss.

Two young people from New York, Dave Rife and Gabe Libertia, designed and built a shield that, they said, could block or even partially reflect the sound beats back.

LRAD works as a powerful sound cannon, using many small sound drivers to create concentrated sound waves. As a result, a sound with a volume of 120 decibels hurts people.

The shield is made of pine and covered with acrylic, and inside it is insulation. It also has a small window. The weight of the structure is more than 22 kilograms, so the shield has a long leg so that it does not have to be kept on weight.
