Scientists from the University of Washington in the USA talked about what factors can increase life expectancy. The results of the study were published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health.
According to the results of the study, experts came to the conclusion that life expectancy is determined not only by genes, but also by the environment in which a person lives.
The researchers took as the basis data on the place of residence, education and social status of 145 thousand people who died aged 75 years and older in the period from 2011 to 2015.
The result was a pattern: most people who died more than a hundred years old lived in places with low levels of air pollution and often went for long walks. Other factors of longevity are: high social status, life in green areas, as well as transport and medical access.
In addition, scientists found a difference between the sexes: women more often survived to a hundred years.
