The first solar eclipse in 2020 coincided with the summer solstice. The 38 second phenomenon was best seen from Africa and Asia.

Residents of the Earth on Sunday, June 21, could see an annular eclipse of the Sun. The best review of this phenomenon was in Africa, Asia and the Pacific. Moreover, the ring phase was visible only in some countries of Africa, southern Pakistan, northern India and China.

It was the first solar eclipse in 2020. It lasted about six hours, with the ring-shaped phase lasting only 38 seconds.

Astronomers note that the phenomenon is extremely rare on the day of the summer solstice. It is noted that this will happen again in the 21st century - in 2039. In this case, the maximum eclipse could be seen in Africa, Asia, China and in the Pacific.

“Since the sun is incredibly bright - looking at it with unprotected eyes is still too dangerous. You need safe sunglasses or special filters for using telescopes or binoculars, ”the scientists say.

They added that direct sunlight can be harmful to the eyes. Looking directly at powerful sunlight, you can damage the retina, the photosensitive part of the eye. Even the slightest exposure to the sun can lead to blurred vision or temporary blindness.
