Forests in Europe cannot adapt to climate change. According to scientists from Germany and Switzerland, this is due to a violation of the water cycle in nature.

The last five years have been the warmest in Central Europe. Many forests have not been able to adapt to these changes. They confirmed this with physiological measurements, scientists explain on the website of the University of Würzburg.

When the air temperature rises high enough, the trees lose water. As a result, due to the high stress on their tissues, the transport of fluid in them is interrupted. This leads to premature decay of the leaves and their discoloration.

“The spruce trees suffered the most, mainly due to the fact that this mountain species was planted outside its natural habitat in Central Europe. Unexpected for us was how badly the beech trees suffered. Prior to this, the beech was considered a species of trees that can withstand any changes, but now we have to reconsider this fact,” the scientists noted.

Recently, scientists have determined which place on the planet is considered the most clean. It is located above the Southern Ocean — the totality of the southern parts of the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian oceans that surround Antarctica. We are talking about the air of the boundary layer of the atmosphere, which feeds the lower clouds above it.
