When you decide to buy a car, everything should be perfect. Many of us are sure that the acquisition of Tesla will certainly take life to a new, better level. However, in the annual J. D. Power Initial Quality Study (IQS), Tesla was in last place.

The IQS report is based on surveys conducted among consumers regarding the quality problems they encounter during the first 90 days of owning a car. This year, the industry average for problems registered per 100 cars was 166. The average for Tesla was 250.

However, the compilers of the rating admit that the results of electric cars cannot be called fully official. The thing is that Tesla does not give permission to study cars in 15 states, including California, where electric cars and hybrids are the most popular. It turned out to include Tesla in the list thanks to a rather large sample of the remaining 35 states.

However, this is not all. There is another caveat. The problems encountered in electric vehicles are mostly cosmetic. Tesla consumers note squeaks, color defects, and other external imperfections, while drivers of other brands talk about problems with the engine or transmission.
