For the first time in history, Mie University awarded a diploma in ninja studies to 45-year-old Genichi Mitsuhashi. He spent 2 years studying.

Mitsuhashi analyzed historical documents about the true nature of ninja fighters and improved his martial arts skills. He lived in a two-story house in the Iga region, where the first ninja appeared in the 12th century, and clans clashed in the 16th.

“In the morning the ninjas worked like ordinary farmers, and during the day they trained. I thought that this combination should help me understand the life of real warriors, ”he said.

Mitsuhashi was one of three students who entered the world's first master's degree in ninja studies in the spring of 2018. Professor Yuґi Yamada called Genichi a real role model for future students.

The university stressed that the master's degree is aimed specifically at studying ninja, and not at becoming one.
