California authorities have banned trucks that release harmful substances into the atmosphere. Restrictions will be introduced in stages, starting in 2035.

The California Clean Air Council (CARB) has adopted a new rule that requires commercial trucks and vans to have zero emissions by 2045. So the authorities want to reduce the number of environmentally harmful diesel engines that most trucks operate on.

The department also demanded that from 2029 transit agencies purchase electric buses. In addition, the ZEV (Zero Emission Vehicle) program should reduce the number of cars that harm nature.

The new rule will be introduced in stages. California regulators are demanding that by 2035 half of the trucks sold in the state be emission-free. All short-range vehicles in ports and railway yards should also be zero-emissions by 2035, and all trucks and vans for delivering “last mile” parcels should be environmentally friendly by 2040. More stringent requirements will come into force in 2024.

California authorities are negotiating with seven states, which can also adopt a new rule on the transport of goods on transport with zero emissions.
