Architects from Belgium created a project of a mobile studio from transport containers (Photo)

The Belgian studio TOOP Architectuur designed two mobile architects' studios for its employees, made of multi-purpose transport containers covered with mirrors and wood.

One studio in a container called Cowes is located in the countryside of Westouter, near the French border. Another container, called Colok, is located on the edge of the city garden in Lokeren in East Flanders. Together, the project is called Diptych.

“The starting point of the concept for our two offices is a low-cost transport container,” said TOOP Architectuur. “These moving structures can be easily placed everywhere, have a strict formal identity and exist in various sizes.”

Cowes, surrounded by a green, hilly landscape, was almost completely covered in mirrors. A large sliding hole in the center and a full-length window at one end. “On this beautiful site, we tried to create an office that would be as invisible as possible and always allow landscapes to speak as efficiently as possible,” the studio’s website says.

Precisely selected interior openings create a connection with the landscape. One is oriented towards a nearby hill, while the other is framed by a small forest at the end of the plot. Colok, which is located in the city center surrounded by row houses, is lined with wood. He enters the garden through a glazed wall and a sliding door. The back of this studio creates a border with the street. Its empty wooden facade enters through a hidden door.

Inside each container, a number of tables are landscape oriented. Full-length bookshelves are placed above the tables. At the end of each container is a more informal sitting area. The interior was chosen to create a strong visual identity that would give coherence to the studios, despite their different areas.
