The buildings left by people and overgrown with past are always attracted by their unique aura, be it France, Great Britain or any other country. 30-year-old Dutchman Roman Robruk specializes in shooting mysterious abandoned places filled with unique color.

During his career as an abandoned photographer, Roman visited more than five hundred abandoned places. Recently, he presented to the public a series of pictures of abandoned buildings in France. He worked on this project for five years and photographed buildings for various purposes - from old houses to churches and castles.

“These old buildings contain a story,” says the photographer. - They are very diverse in architecture, and each seems to tell its own legend. Holes are common in floors and ceilings, dust and lots of furniture are everywhere. It is amazing to see the real life of the past.”

“For obvious reasons, it was harder to get to some places than to others. Most of the buildings in the pictures of the series were located in parks, everything was open, and no one else followed them. However, the location of some buildings required me to carefully plan where and when to park the car, how to walk in the park, climb into an open window or climb through a hole. This is part of the game. France is famous for its beautiful architecture and history, which have always fascinated me. This is one of the reasons why I like to rent abandoned buildings in this country.”
