In New York, on the Upper East Side, in a seven-story limestone townhouse designed by Meyer Davis, this unique apartment is located. Meyerdavis Studios connects past and present in a Manhattan mansion.

A gilded finish and a custom Nathan Litera console adorn the entrance, paved with Bleu de Savoie and Bianco Pura marble.

Inside the entrance lobby, gilded wall panels speak the same neoclassical language as the Hergian-style façade windows and fine art wrought iron railings. And yet the mood is completely modern.

Such existential interrogations end with the arrival of Coco Goldendoodle and a bunch of schoolchildren - the son of the homeowners and their friends, who kicked off their shoes and rushed to the basement recreation room. Tradition, cutting edge and family life are a recipe that gives a home a special boost.

The demolition of two townhouses that had been converted into apartment blocks cleared the way for a 14,500-square-foot family of five. The idea was that the house should look like it has always been there.

Full-length pocket doors can slide along the edge of the marble island to separate the kitchen and dining area; French doors lead into a backyard lined with faux boxwood.

Herringbone oak floorboards have been lined with varying gaps on the inside to make them appear less clinically uniform - as if they were originally from a Parisian aria around the turn of the century - and wood treated with processes such as haze, staining, and somersaults. until the design team was satisfied with it.

The main plaster staircase connecting the first to seventh floors was hand-formed on site.

The combined details from research on estates in New York, London and Paris inspired the residence's delicate furnishings and lentil sculpting. Bold interventions such as sleek kitchen, sculpted grand staircase, and bold art live within this classic sink.
